Leslie Bricusse

Leslie Bricusse (1931-2021) was a British composer, lyricist, and playwright known for his significant contributions to musical theatre and film music. He is best recognized for his collaborations with composer Anthony Newley, producing iconic songs and musicals during the 1960s and 1970s. Bricusse's notable works include the musicals "Stop the World – I Want to Get Off" and "The Roar of the Greasepaint – The Smell of the Crowd," both co-created with Newley. He also wrote the lyrics for the beloved song "Pure Imagination," featured in the 1971 film "Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory." In addition to his stage work, Bricusse contributed to film scores, including the music for the James Bond film "Goldfinger" and "Doctor Dolittle," which won him an Academy Award for Best Original Song for "Talk to the Animals."
